Default Kenwood KA7100 restoration

Hello everybody,

I finally have some time to give my KA7100 some work to make it shine. It works fine, but I know its not playing as good as it can.

In case anyone will want to take a look at the schematics, here's a link:

I've already made a list of parts, all of the caps will be replaced, the volume pot, probably the balance pot, and the speaker terminals. I will also replace the wiring coming from the selector board to the pre-amp with some shielded wires as at the moment I have some cross-talk between different inputs which is audible when the selected input is playing at low volumes.

I have another problem as well, the switches and pots in the pre-amp are of a kind I've never come across and I can't find a replacement. Here's a picture I took:

Same board from the back:

Is it possible to get replacement parts for these that will be in the same size and form? I can't use different types of switches since these fit exactly into the slots of the case front panel.

If its not possible, what will be the best way to clean these so that they won't have issues? At the moment I sometime have contact problems with one of the switches and one of the pots. I've tried cleaning them with some contact cleaner and a brush, and tried using 95% alcohol as well. Unfortunately it didn't solve the problems completely. While the switch now works fine, the pot still has issues.

BTW, if you have any suggestions about other things I should replace/change in the amp, I will gladly consider, as long as its not too crazy

I've already ordered the volume pot (ALPS RK27 with loudness output tap), and the speaker output terminal from THL. I will probably order the rest of the parts once I know what to do with the switches and pots.

Thank you.

300b,

How did your project come out? I have one of these I Bought at an auction for $50.00. Listening to it right now. I was thinking about doing a little tweaking.
