OK so this might seem totally stupid but I stumbled across this on the net:
Universal Stereo Tube Output Stage with Standard copper cap (Complete with Power Transformer) | Diy HiFi Supply mainly used as an output device for, say, a DAC. So I was thinking, what if I just fit that device between the input selector relays and the volume pot (my preamp is DIY Kaneda, the volume pot is before the gain stage... and there's plenty of room inside the box to fit another circuit); I may be wrong but, that would just be like adding this tube output stage to all my sources, only there would be only one and it would be located inside the preamp? Am I missing out something here? |

Sounds possible to do.
Alternative put it after the Volume-pot. But maybe isnt room. Ideally I think is to have volumepot before tube amplifier.

I tend to agree with lineup's suggestion.
Being uncertain of the input voltages and also gain of the tube circuit, the input could easily overload the tube circuit. I always prefer my gain stages after the volume control. |

Why not just use it to replace the solid-state circuit altogether? BTW, I seem to recall Thorsten L. Indicating that he had a hand in the design of that module.
