I found a replacement AY9171 thanks to a local Ham contact's junk box, but for anyone else looking for one in the future, don't hold your breath. The AY series were only sold in Australia,and were made in Fairchild's Croydon Vic factory in the early 1970s. My replacement came to hand a day after I'd ordered the MJE3055T and MJE2955T pair, b$%^^& it, but they can be used on a future project I'm sure. Thanks to all who replied to my original posting. The 136 is now singing again ...
