Default NAD 3140 LTspice schematic

Hi all. I have just finished puting a Nad3140 schematic into Ltspice. I was interested in seeing how the soft clipping looked like when simulated. It seems to simulate with only the positive sine wave providing soft clipping and the negative half, not. I was wondering if any other spice users have found the same thing?

Regards

Simon

Actually I was wondering if this is the same as what happens in real life with a NAD with soft clipping amplifier?

Regards

Simon

Anyone know the answer to this? What does the softclipping look like in real life on a NAD amp?

Here are some pictures showing what I mean. The first one is just at it's clipping point without soft clipping. Second is with soft clipping. You can see only the positive half is being affected by the soft clipping?

Regards

Simon

Yes looking at the schematics you seem to be right. It has +-50v supply for the poweramp rails but also has +-45v and +- 25v regulated supply. It also has 2 transformers. If you want a copy of the schematics I'll need your email address as it's 4mb size.

I can not send 4mb files through the internal diyaudio.com email system. You need to send me your home email via PM or to me via the internal email system first.

i worked at NAD for a couple of years after APT closed. the soft clipping should be symmetrical... send the schematic to my email address below-minus what's in parenthesis...
