I have a Sony MHC-1600 mini hyfi component stereo, probably 20 years old.
The cassette section doesn't work and is not detected (which is not major as I don't listen to cassette anymore. They display started going dim and now doesn't light anymore. some of the buttons stopped working and only works by using the remote. CD skips even with a new CD. I think that the problem is that some capacitor has dried up as the system was installed in a closed cabinet and may have run hot for a few years. Does anyone know were I can get a service manual? |

Service manual - good luck! Probably unavailable to anyone apart from "Authorised Sony Service Personnel" who would probably tell you to throw it and buy something new (and crap!)
Start looking in the power supply section - renew those capacitors. Go from there. |
