Hi folks,
I heard a friends Crimson Elektrik 2 x 100w amplifier (uses 2n3055 transistors not sure of model number could be CE1004) and I was highly impressed so I'm on the lookout for one. I believe they're from the 1980s?! Anyway that doesn't bother me as it's a tried and tested design. Cash waiting. I believe they were available in module possibly in kit form so it doesn't matter if they're built or not. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you in advane for your replies. |

Hi Mike,
I've got a couple of modules you might be interested in. They use 2N3773's for the output pairs. I think they are the 4ohm stable version. 1704 (170w into 4Ohms) and are marked VI. They have a PSU hooked up to them at the moment and are working fine. I upgraded many of the electrolytics with Audio Grade Elna's too. (until I ran out that is!)

Hi,
the 3773 series vi and the CK110 are both ce1704 modules. Protection kicks in at 2r7 instead of 5r4. The 3055 device ce100 module is probably better used as a ce608 with more current ability to drive severe reactance 8ohm speakers. I really liked the series vii modules, I have over time used 6 of them. I now have a pair of series viii modules. Crimson's suggested grounding scheme does not work properly. This Forum showed me what was wrong. Corrected they play very well !
