Cyrus 2 + PSX set-up question

Hi,
i have 2 x Cyrus Two integrated amplifiers and 2 x PSX power supplies (Cyrus certified mod's to turn into mono configuration).

Although i love the sound of this setup it can be a hassle having to adjust volume controls for both left and right channels (1 x Cyrus Two + PSX does left speaker and the other pair does the right speaker).

Would i be able to use a pre-amp? I would go from the pre-amp's pre-output's to one of the line inputs on the Cyrus units and then set the Cyrus units to max volume.

The reason i ask is that the Cyrus units do not have a proper input like a power amp would have, so i would be using the 'cd' input for example.

If it would work, could i get away with using a passive pre-amp?

A passive preamp would do the job of volume adjustment but it must be located via low capacitance cabls to the two power amplifiers.

With longer interconnects which have medium to high capacitance you must use an output impedance that can tolerate the cable capacitance.
A very low impedance stereo pot 2K or 5K gets you close.
Better is adding a buffer that lowers the output impedance. But do ensure you have sufficient current to drive the cables and the power amps.

Look at the very simple B1, or the slightly more complicated DCB1, or the BF862 buffer.
Using a buffer after the volume pot allows a higher value pot to be used 10k to 50k would all be suitable.

Yes, turn the C Two to max volume.
But you lose the MM input if you use an external pre-amp (passive or active)
