Default Mcintosh autoformer taps.....Switchable?

Any reason why I couldn't add a switch to an old SS mac with autoformers to toggle between 4/8/16 ohm taps? I'm thinking a 3 way toggle in the front panel in the now unused octal input hole? 2A.
