Sorry but what spec?

You'll need to provide some definition of what you expect in terms of cost and performance or no one will have a clue what to recommend.

For instance, are you looking to build under $100, $200???

Is 0.1% THD good enough or do you expect better?

Initially, I would recommend a chip amp for most bang for your buck.

Some chipamps can give 50W of maximum output at less than 10% distortion.

If you follow the instructions correctly you can get up to 60W of maximum output at less than 0.5% distortion.

I want at least 50W of power. and less than 5%THD will be OK!
I build some chipamps (3886, 4780), and sound great, but looking for some discrete ones now. and maybe some other cheaper chipamp

Hi,

If you want to build a discrete amp and do not want to spend too much, maybe you can read about the Mosfet Citation 12 by Nelson Pass or the project 3A from Elliott (few components, truly excellent sound, and he sells excellent pcb for the amp).

60-80W Power Amplifier

As for cheaper chipamps, you could try with TDA7394 (Arg. Pesos 15 per device). Good sound overall. Very few components.

Rod's P3A amp is a killer but it may be over your budget. The output transistors can be costly. (MJL21193/94)

Chlorofille is right, but you could still build it with 2N3055/MJ2955 (+/- 30V max PSU) or maybe MJ15003/4, and still have excellent sound

Agree, totally.

No need for "exotic" audio transistors if <5% THD will do.

In fact I'd go for the TIP3033/2955 in plastic packaging.

You should be able to get these for very little money, anywhere.
