hi
while im in the mood for updating the old Musical Fidelity stuff i have opened the preamp 8 and it has 4 opamps i think thats what they are ? ZVN4206E 's what is a better opamp to upgrade this with if any Thanks very much Mark |

If same pin config as NE5532 (Signetics) check out Raytheon's RC4227 -- boy is the noise floor far away

Hi sparky,
the ZVN4206E is not a opamp. This is a mosfet-transistorarray. Your preamp is more a diskret-circuit and you can not change the ZVN4206E for a opamp. |

so not a lot i can do to improve the pre then ? its not that its not good already to be honest just a thought thats all. Regards Mark |

That's a nice looking pre-amp, Sparks -- Just as an aside - I love doing pre-amps using all small signal transistor discretes, like Naim -Krell - Levinson etc -
it's ages since I used preamp packages

It's really interesting how much this piece of **** costs.My DIY preamp is ways.. better then this garbage.

If you feel like giving this a bit of a lift maybe you should try recapping the preamp with high quality capacitors such as Elna simics and/or Panasonic FC.
Best electrolytic capacitors You could also look at the PSU circuit and regulators. |
