How common is it to find fake 2SJ162's and 2SK1058's ?
Im looking at these on ebay and it got me wondering: 2SJ162 & 2SK1058 RENESAS High Power Audio MOSFET - eBay (item 400168703676 end time Oct-31-10 15:12:40 PDT) Btw i find it a bit strange that theres no mention in the datasheet about them beeing vertical or lateral but i assume they are lateral since that is most commonly related to audio. |

They are Lateral mosFETs, but you cannot assume that audio use equates to Lateral.
Some Vertical mosFETs are designed for audio and many more are used in audio.

And every single one you've bought from Hong Kong, or China are fake. 100% all of them. It's not even a question.

So that means every consumer product that say "made in china" likely contain all fake components ?

No. This means that semiconductors and other parts bought in China are likely to be fakes.
Especially discontinued audio parts (I know the lat FET discussed here are still in production). I heard of serious problems a lot of companies experienced during the latest economy panic with the parts they stocked from China. Fakes, fakes, fakes. E.g. bought a reel of semis, first 100 parts okay, 2900 without dies inside and so on. Even worse to receive parts of poor quality that look good and spec like the originals but fail in field later. Btw: First time I agree with Nagys somehow. |
