Hello all,
One of my Carver TFM-25 power amps has the following symptoms: When I power it up, the the right channel emits intermittent popping noises for a short while and then either plays OK until I shut it off or the protective circuitry trips and shuts the amp down. I recapped this amp last year and I can do basic checks with my little Radio Shack DVM but I have basically no electronics experience and I'm lost when it comes to troubleshooting a malfunction. I'm wondering if the problem is a cap shorting somewhere but I wouldn't know how to find it if that were in fact the problem. Does anyone have any advice on how and whether or not I could troubleshoot this amp with just a DMV? I don't know where to start. thanks, Charlie
