igbt amplifier, real or fake ?

Is it me or do those specs look totally faked ?

As far as i've heard, igbts were tried in audio amps in the 80's or 90's but flopped.

Hm, I wouldn´t think those specs are completely out of question. I have built a few amps with very similar topology, but not with IGBTs, and I too got similar figures. It seems IGBTs are either too expensive or just not so much better than BJTs to justify the cost. Vertical MosFets are not expensive, and can produce fantastic results so I would go for those instead.

IIRC JLH produced an IGBT design in the past. I think there is a problem with IGBT is that if the current passes a certain point it will go into thyristor mode and its bye bye output stage which may have out people off. Would certainly put me off.

another design by the same author
think that was fast igbt design from elector magazine
and I can say that was really god sounding device...
(mono block version with 2 PS maybe this give the + sign?)
try to google this dsn because I think that is better?

I'd say its you. Nothing particularly special about 0.0015% at 1kHz into an 8R resistor.

Mark Alexander's current feedback amp used those very same devices. He got slightly better figures for distortion as these you've shown.
