A friend asked me to look at a Fender Stage 112se amp, which has a loud hum and there is a loud crack when switched off.
When I opened the amp the low voltage transformer center tap was disconnected ( brown on the attached image ).
Before I strip everything down, would this disconnection cause any damage to the Caps/Diodes etc in the low voltage power supply ( and cause the noise's), or would it damage something else.
If I plug directly into the power amp ( which isolates the preamp ) there is only a very small amount of humming and small pop at turn off
