Lightbulb DIY Amp recommendation?

I'd like to build a DIY amp of some type to add to what I already have:

* Advent 300 receiver (preamp)
* Original Advent speakers
* PC + FLAC files + DAC

Of the many passdiy, first watt or other kits, does anyone here have a recommendation?

Thanks.

Degree in EE. I've built kits before. Been toying with audio since the early 70's. Pretty sure I remember which end of the soldering iron to plug in. :-)

YGLT: Dx Blame ST - Builder's thread - post pictures, reviews and comments here please.
Although it appears as ES version, in fact, it is ST version, which stands for "STable".
Enjoy it!
Max.

Destroyer X's range of amps are good. So is MikeB's SymAsym. I'm not sure if the SymAsym has PCB's available for sale, but the layouts are free if you are able to handle transfer and etching.

These amps are in the 30-50W range which are usually quite enough for domestic listening, however it does depend on the efficiency of the speakers.

A Gainclone type amp is a pretty good way to start in diy amp builds.

Be careful with circuit diagrams out there, it is a minefield, some are just terribly wrong.

Hi,
Your function seem like my current design.
Windows+FLAC+D/A, I also find some amplifier to match them together for hidef audio player+integrated amplifier suit (already have digital volume control)

Thanks

Hi 6Sigma,

Not sure what type of amp you are building, but there's an excellent site dedicated to DIY gear with pre, power and headphone amps here:

SKA sponsored Audio Forum - Products

I've built a few of the SKA modules - the good thing is you can get them as a PCB, kit or fully built.

Happy building mate.

Cheers,
Lordearl
