Hey guys,
I've got a Matrix UKP1000 PA amplifier; its getting on a bit now but I'd like to get it back up on its feet and if possible retrofit/upgrade a few of the components. Basically what has gone wrong is that the right channel, Output B, distorts badly as soon as the volume goes up or theres a load of bass; so I'm thinking that one of the mosfets has died on me. I'm not sure what type of mosfets they are but I can take a photo of them and upload them in a little while. So I was wondering if theres a superior equivalent that I could just replace all the mosfets with? And if anyone knows of any other mods that would be worth doing? Cheers, Will |

The first stop is to replace the electrolytics.
Check any pots for wear and replace as required.

The Pots seem to be ok.
There was a slight bit of rust or something on one of the 10000uF PSU caps, so I think they will be the first to go. I may have to chuck in some 20000uF Mundorfs if I can afford it, that should up the bass a bit methinks. |
