Velleman amp replacment part query

Basically from anohter thread I was advised to post here and after they helped me diognose the problem I thought it would be better to sak this question in this section. Basically I got THIS amp and it stopped working I'm going to replace the power resistors which I have already ordered but they say that I need to change the transistor BC547B I have a BC547B will this work?

I suspect you meant a BC546B

Yes, that will work. What parts failed ?

No sorry I meant BC478B, I don't know wether that will work as the values arn't as high as the 547. The power resistors have over heated and burnt and I'm replacing that transitor for goos measure as it was the thing that I think caused it.

Are you talking about the bias device that goes into a hole drilled in the heat sink?

The part you mention isn't suitable. A BC546 will work, and these are readily available - i think Maplin even still stock them!

Yeh I did see that and i had a go with the other one i had but to no avail. I will be buying a couple of those from maplin.
