Please Help ID this... Diode?

This red device (diode?) has a burnt area all around it. I assume the cap is bad along with a burnt resistor.

Is this a zenier diode? I do not have a schematic, however the back side of the board has the diode symbol and a long "Z" or "N" in front of it. I copied the markings off of the back of the board- they are on the pix, because they are hard to see through the burn marks. (see pix).

If it is a diode, what size would I replace it with???



Any help would be appreciated.

Hard to tell. A zener is usually drawn like this
From the looks it reminds me of an old 1N4148.
Could you reverse engineer that small part of the circuit?

It looks like it got quite hot. I don't know if it would work???

The amp doesn't work, so I'm assuming that it is the faulty part. I got a junk schematic, maybe I'll chance it and replace it w/ a zenier?

z diodes often run hot a little bit in operation.........
can you measure the voltage drop of this part?

Yup,

I get .665 one way and open the other way. Holy diodes batman! I guess that it is working. The resistor near it is shot and maybe the cap is bad, the cause of the strife.

I'm a parts changer, not a wiz.

I found someone with a schematic! Ordered the resistor and zener, and caps. Hoping for the best! Thanks for the help!
