hi, i'm still clearing out my dads old audio equipment that he accumilated over the years and i have now come to the cyrus 1 which works wonderfully except the balance control, as far as i can tell the pot still works (i have an oscilloscope and very basic knowledge.) as when its turned it still mutes the signal either way when measured on the balance part of the pot, however it still plays out of both sides no matter what position the pot is set too.
any help would be appreicated. thanks chris |

Can only think of a loose solder joint if you are sure the pot is OK. The center tap of the balance pot connects to ground, and either end connects to the output of the source select switch via a 3K5 resistor.
The service manual should be on here, pretty sure ACD's site has it too. The source select/preamp part is completely passive, so pretty basic. |
