Hi
Looking to find someone in Canada to repair an GFA-585 Limited Addition Amp. I believe it is suffering from the leaking compactor problem. When amp is turned on there is a popping noise from the speakers for the first 2 to 3 minutes until the amp is warmed up, after that the popping stops and it will function correctly. I am no electronic expert by any means, have been a mechanic with Can Military for 20 years and after retirement went back to college to complete a 2 yr course on computers which included a course on basic electronic theory. I know when l am over my head and to leave it alone and what l can repair. This repair is over my abilities even with the service manual and all the tools l have collected after 30 years of mechanical and computer servicing. I am located in Manitoba and am willing to ship or dismantle the boards with a little direction. This amp has been a solid performer for many years and l would like to continue using it for many more. At this time l cannot do any testing as my Kef 103/5 have been dismantled so that the woofers can be refoamed. Thank you. |
