Default Update Musical Fidelity A1

I've read all the threads here and seen M Hennessy's page..

ok, so I have an A1 that I have had for maybe 25 years

I have replaced selecter switch and volume pot once or twice over the years

It recently stopped getting hot though it still works (sound comes out of speakers ok but it's not hi fi)

so I plan to replace all caps, redo heat sink compound
(I probably won't do pre-amp replacement)

but several people say replace output transistors as well
is that something I should do ?

what would have failed to stop it getting hot?

thanks!

i repaired a lot of A1s in the old days. Usually the psu diodes had to be replaced.
They worked in England but failed in Germany. Musical Fidelity used better ones later so i do not know what kind you have.
I have the schematic somewhere. I hope i can find it and post it.
That amp with Pro-AC Tablette and modified DUAL turntable made an imensely musical system.
I taked to Paravichini at CES and maybe he can help.
Try to contact him over the EAR page.
