Default CS 800 acting wierd

This is my first post but this forum looks pretty interesting.

So my CS 800 is acting wierd. When i turn the power switch off, the transformer starts buzzing and it pops a fuse. If i turn the switch on, replace the fuse and plug it in it works fine. I opened it up and started looking around for burnt spots on the boards. I noticed on the power board (the one directly behind the transformer) that underneath the long ceramic resistor it was black. The wire ends of the resistor look a little corroded also. Im not an engineer so Im just making a best guess here. If anyone can give me some other ideas or give me a part number for that resistor I would appreciate it

There are many versions of this amp. many had a triac that is in series with one leg of the transformer and is triggered by the power switch. how or why that would blow the fuse i have no idea. Unless it is somehow wired wrong which could definitely be the case. one wire on the wrong post of the terminal block would do it.

there should be a large 250 ohm 20 watt resistor in series with the fan.

now that you mention about the fan, i forgot that when I installed a new fan from radio shack about 2 weeks ago the edge of the fan touched one of those rails with the caps on it and it sparked. This may be where the black spot came from. The model I have is a 90's cs 800 if that helps any

Im not familiar with "triac" is this an acctuator?
