probably the «Darlington inversé» is the best solution to avoid VAS

By the way, I want to have a transition to a circlotron by the same basic topology than this circuit for more symmetric behavior and therefore I start this thread some months ago:

Conversion of Hiraga's "Le Monstre" to a Circlotron

But obviously this is more difficult (unlike to a single-stage topology)
