When I turn on my Usher amp I get a humming noise which seems to have increased in volume. When I first purchased the amp the hum was not very noticeable (its more of a ringing sound) I don't think it is a grounding problem. There seems to be no problem with how it functions sound is great etc. but the noise is noticeable when there is a lull in the music, does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?
Thanks David |

If its hum then it will be 50Hz getting in somewhere.
Have a look at the power rails for excessive ripple. Other than that try it with input shorted and see if it is the amp or something connected to it. I find I have to connect or disconect the earth to the zero volt line depending on what I am driving the amp from. For an MP3 player i need the earth connected. For a mains powered pre amp taht is already earthed i have to disconnect the earth from the amp.
