Smile Which Amplification Topology Do YOU Love?

The topology used in the amp(s) you love.

Well It's Absolutely FINE if you have more than one amp that you love with more than one topology used in them. Right now we don't have to be serious!
Just choose one, for now.

Note that we are talking about the state of the final gain devices in your loved amplifier(s). Please also note that it's OKAY if your loved amp runs in different topology at different times... e.g. Class-A gone into AB at higher power output, etc. You might love it at both low and high levels. For now, just choose one, as it won't change the truth that you love both.

TIP:- If you feel really bad to choose any "one" from listening impression etc. then it may be the one you listen most-of-the-time.

Thanks.

Happy Listening and Merry Christmas!

b.t.w I'm in SE Class-A, Always.

My favourite amps are the MC2 Audio MC series ones.
They are bipolar class a/b but I spoke to one of the designers who told me that in domestic use they highly unlikely to ever leave class a operation.

I am also very fond of my Quad 520 current dumper and that would be my second choice.

I'll go with the single ended class A If only it wasn't sooooo expensive to run a decent power (100W+) pair of solid state monoblocs Then i'd need another pair as my speakers are semi active wow.gif Not forgetting the air conditioning in summer.......

Frankly a couple of Kilowatts power usage whilst just ticking over makes Mark rather unhappy, can't beat the sound quality though!

In reality any class A is good, the more efficient due to outrageous power bills the better.

Merry christmas all, or if you prefer it - happy holidays

Ok so I voted ab as I use three MC2s (and one other bipolar ab amp) in my 4way active main system but if I would have wanted to vote for the Quad which box should I have ticked?

Isn't the Quad a "current dumper"? If so it's an AC I guess AB would cover it but the main power devices are hard off until they dump current.

If time is equal then number is the only priority. That said, I think you ticked the right box.

"If only it wasn't sooooo expensive to run a decent power (100W+) pair of solid state monoblocs", then it was not Class-A.

I voted SE Class A, but I should note that the devices are 300B DHTs driving transformers. (Not parafeed) I also have a pair of very nice 30Wrms 300B PP monoblocks that I desinged & built about 11yrs ago, but markedly prefer my current SE amps. I'm just getting started on a new SE design based on the GM70 and D3A.
