Greetings from Canada. Does anyone know of a source where I can get a complete up to date kit for a Leach Superamp? Also, can someone tell me what the 1000 watt stamp means on each of the LSR&D Superamps I have just acquired? They appear to be factory name plates but as far as I'm aware, these monoblocks put out 270-300???

You might have to write Marshall Leach and ask. I would assume he was involved in the manufacture of the amplifier. If it were a stereo amp, I'd assume that was the bridged rating.
There's no kit as such that I'm aware of for the Superamp; the old Heathkit AA-1800, which occasionally appears on Ebay, is very closely based on his design. I bought one as much for the chassis, heatsink, and power supply; it's missing the relay board and a cover but it seemed to cheapest way to get a lot of the parts to build the project. A couple of projects to increase the power of Leach's 'standard' design simply involve more output transistors with higher SOA in parallel and higher rail voltages. The Superamp uses a 'totem pole' driver and output stage. |
