so i got a treat today on my way home from the local dog park: in the trash, a realistic STA-2000 receiver.
lugged it home 4 blocks(heavy!), plugged it in, crappy sound on the left side, but not blowing fuses and staying powered up. after a thorough cleaning, and cleaning the pots, it sounds amazing. im thrilled. but here's my question: i have recapped instruments with a shotgun mentality, and i honestly havent been able to tell the difference. so i wouldnt be interested in that approach, but if i could do this in a focused manner, i.e. just the signal path that is most relevant, then i would consider it before putting it into use. any thoughts? thanks-rj |
