I found an Adcom 585 power amp at a swap meet today and it is in perfect condition except that it is missing it's toroidal power transformer...I bought it for $50. and IMO the case and heat sinks alone are worth the price.
I've compared the interior to photo's on the NET and it looks like everything is there and it's all mint. Anyone know the transformer spec on it? I've sent Adcom a message but no reply. Thanks for any info. Tony D. |

I don't know the actual ratings (size, power, etc.) for it but I know it used Toroidal Typed Transformer and it's fairly Large. So, I guess buying an identical toroid won't be cheap.
From what you said, that amp seems to have been used for parts and I guess any parts left in there may or may not work. But $50 is a deal still. Last edited by megasat16; 14th December 2009 at 03:21 AM. |

GFA-565 is Monoblock. GFA-585 is Dual Channel (it could be monoblock construction but I dont' know).

I think the original was a custom with dual 55-0-55 secondaries about 800VA.
I would stack a pair of 55-0-55 at 500VA (or higher).
