Harman Kardon Citation 12 crunchy low volume output
Hello
I just got ( from Ebay...) a perfectly working Citation 12 power amplifier. Just plug it in via an Adcom Preamp and CD to found out that both channels plays very low and full of parasites. Well I measured the HV out of the filter caps and there are stable +-41V. Also the Bias is fine as described on the techical manual. What might be the problem ??? I looked around the schematics and noticed these brakers for the output but on the Ohmeter they show .5Ohm so I guess they work. Any ideas ?? or should I scrapt it since I have an ADCOM GFA-535 in fine working order. Thank you George |

Impossible to say. Would have to see circuit and at least do a couple of basic tests.
The fact that it seems DC stable with correct bias means it must be 99% OK IMO Two minutes with a scope and signal generator would reveal all

Pull the circuitboard and replace all of the electrolytic caps on the board.
Use DeoxIt or some other red oil to clean the little finger contacts on the bottom of the board. That should bring the amplifier back to life. The Citation 12 is a fine amplifier.
