I'm replacing the old power cord in my Yamaha M80 amplifier. The original cord has no ground, but my replacement does. What should I do with the ground lead?
I could wire-nut it... orrr would it be put to better use if it were attached to the chassis, for example? |

Any help with this?
I'm also not sure which leads to connect to what... one side goes to my 2 power transformers on grey cord, and the other goes to a circuit board on a blue wire. The original wire doesn't help because it was there were no distinctions between either side of the plug... |

Live (line, active, hot, whatever you call it) should be in line with the fuses inside the unit.
You may connect Earth (Ground) to the chassis but it may buzz. If it does you can either disconnect the earth and leave it disconnected, or (the correct thing to do) make a loop breaking circuit so that it wont buzz. |
