They dont need as much current to drive them.
i.e. you can drive a few MOSFETs straight from a VAS without buffering.

I think people really value their speed when compared to BJTs. Without looking at the data sheets I think they can be an order of magnitude faster and this has something to do with the lack of "hole storage" effects I believe, but you'd need a more educated person to confirm that. Now that is probably "hard science" and could lead to the subjective effect that people think they are cleaner, have less "memory" allowing better musical production. (Don't want to get into an argument about the last point. Just passing on others comments, okay?)

They require about 20dB more feedback to get distortion down to BJT levels (unless running class A as Pass does).

You can find MOSFETs with very nice big safe operating area (SOA) curves, also they do not suffer from second breakdown and at very high currents have a negative temperature coefficient which again helps against destruction.
