Default Clip LED circuit, will this work ?

Does this cct look any good ?
It uses an LM393 open collector comparator IC.

Is the speaker signal going in to Negates? Not sure what's going on with that second op-amp, it looks like it will be keeping the LED on all the time?

Those have got to be the most hideous and confusing resistor symbols I have ever seen!

N_GATES is the amp output to the MOSFET gates.
The second comparator drives an LED.

The resistor symbols are quite big to hold value and wattage as well as the reference number.

So are both op-amp things actually comparators? I think you need to use op-amps otherwise the input to the second "comparator" is just going to be high all the time due to the pull-up resistor.

They are both open collector comparators.
The pot is always set to around 5 volts and is adjusted for the LED to come on at the onset of clipping.

The first comparator switches low and discharges the capacitor quickly when clipping occurs. The capacitor then charges up slowly once clipping has gone and os keep the LED on for a while.

OK I was thinking the other way round. It is late

Seems it should be ok then. Get the breadboard out if unsure

I have ordered the components for it.
Best to try before going to a proper PCB.
