Hi,
While soldering a diode close to a Shinkoh tantalum resistor I accidentally touched the resistor (body not lead) with the tip of my iron (for about five seconds). The part of the case I touched with the iron turned brown and after a couple seconds flaked off (a couple mm's in all directions). I tested it with a multimeter and it reads fine, further more I patched it up with some liquid tape. Is it possible that the resistor is still damaged despite reading properly? Should I replace it or will it be okay? Thanks in advance. |

Its tell tale it survived IMO. Better keep it there and see if it will give any trouble when the thing you make(?) is going to work as a whole. Just because the particular resistor type is Giant Panda and expen$ive, isn't very wise to bin the scarface one right away. Where you source the particular make?

Hey Salas. Thanks for the assurance. Time will tell if you are right. I ordered the resistors from Partsconnexion, but at a pretty good discount during a sale.
