Default Burnt Tantalum Resistor Question

Hi,

While soldering a diode close to a Shinkoh tantalum resistor I accidentally touched the resistor (body not lead) with the tip of my iron (for about five seconds). The part of the case I touched with the iron turned brown and after a couple seconds flaked off (a couple mm's in all directions). I tested it with a multimeter and it reads fine, further more I patched it up with some liquid tape. Is it possible that the resistor is still damaged despite reading properly? Should I replace it or will it be okay? Thanks in advance.

Its tell tale it survived IMO. Better keep it there and see if it will give any trouble when the thing you make(?) is going to work as a whole. Just because the particular resistor type is Giant Panda and expen$ive, isn't very wise to bin the scarface one right away. Where you source the particular make?

Hey Salas. Thanks for the assurance. Time will tell if you are right. I ordered the resistors from Partsconnexion, but at a pretty good discount during a sale.
