hello, i'm a novice speaker builder whose decided to jump into the diy amp scene after pulling the trigger on this kit last night. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_6241wt_939
to power these babies that i'm currently working on the cabinets for http://www.madisound.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=8644 i confess i know nothing about building amps but more than eager to start out right away if you guys would help me and point me to the right direction. i've already asked the ebay seller this but... what should i purchase next? i know i want a shunt regulator from the seller's suggestion and rca inputs for pairing with an external preamp but beyond that i'm clueless. any help is appreciated. thank you in advance. |

I know you have to start somewhere but don't you think this is a bit ambitious for a first project.
The amp in your link makes things more difficult because it requires two different voltage rails (officially) which means two transformers for the PSU or a single one giving -/+45volts for the outputs and perhaps (depending how much current the driver stage requires) using a voltage doubler and regulator to derive the -/+60volts. Getting it all to just work is one thing... doing correctly (wiring and so on) so that it performs properly is something else. |
