Hello all
I have just bought a 980bx pre-amp and I have to make the mains cable longer to fit in with my rack setup so I though as I had the 'hood up' I could do some tweaking on it. I have done multiple searches for mods but cant find anything so I thought the best place to ask would be here. Does anyone have a schematic for it or any mods that can be done on it please?? Thx

Hello
Very nice preamp. I personally like it My first advice is get the service manual, even if you have to buy it. It is fundamental. Then look at the caps on the signal path. Maybe a little 0,01uF bypass can give more transparency. To change the pot is a little more difficult I am afraid. But usually it is beneficial. Then tell us the used op-amps. Maybe they could be swapped with something better. I think you will get a lot of suggestions- How does it sound ? which aspect would you like to improve ? I am also very interested in this 3D Thanks anda regards, ginetto |

Thanks for the advice I will look out for the service manual and contact rotel.
The opamps are AD771jn http://www.alldatasheet.com/datashee...D/AD711JN.html http://www.futurlec.com/AnalogDevices/AD711JN.shtml As to what I want from It I dont know as I have never modded any thing like this before. Im replacing the mains cable with belden 19364. I knew the op amps could probably be upgraded as teh amps 10 years or so old so there must be newer and better opamps on the market now. |
