Default Setting amplifier output power level

I want to test compression driver for 50W sinewave.
I will give 1 khz sinewave input from PC.
How to set amplifier output level for 50W/100W @ 8 ohms with multimeter?

50W into 8r0 is the same as 20Vac into 8r0.
100W into 8r0 is the same as 28.28Vac into 8r0.

A compression driver is unlikely o be rated for a continuous 50W of input.
They are used to seeing a few milliseconds of input at the higher voltage levels and sustained power about 10 to 20dB below the maximum rating.

1kHz and 28.29Vac (=40Vpk) may take your compression driver way past it's Xmax and even past it's Xmech!!!!

It is to test protection circuit without amplifier connection to compression driver.
I will use 8 ohm resistor as load.
The 50W/100W will hv to be passed through -4.5db L pad, -18db crossover & then protection circuit with PTC & resistor+ bulb in parallel.

So want to set the amplifier output to check the circuit.
Any other suggestion will be appreciated.

You don't need 8 ohm resistor load, just set amp to voltages as Andrew has told you.

I am not going to put resistor as a load to amplifier.
But i will put resistor as a load to the protection circuit.
Amplifier output will be used as input to the protection circuit.
