Default Attenuator and MUX chips.

I need to upgrade my preamplifier, but as I'm feeling really lazy ATM and couldn't be arsed researching for myself, I'll just ask here.

What parts are currently bee's knee's when it comes to uC-compatible logarithmic (audio) volume control IC's and multiplexer IC's?
