Dear everyone,
I am thinking of bi-amping with a mix of power amps, the NAD 214 and the Rotel 960BX. As i plan to be using passive line level XOs, i do not have too much control in terms of gain matching. The NAD 214 manual states a voltage gain of 28.3 (29dB), but i cannot find the gain for the Rotel 960BX. Is there a way to figure it out? The link to the manual is there. Too large to attach, sorry. http://www.rotel.com/content/manuals/rb960bx_eng.pdf |

The manual shows an input sensitivity of 1V. For 60W into 8 ohms requires an output of 21.9V(rms). So the gain is x21.9, or 26.8dB. Hope that helps. Regards, Steve |

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply! So that's what it means, 1V input for full rated power into 8 ohms. That's good news, as i was planning to use the Rotel to drive the mid + tweeter, and the NAD for the woofer, which needs a bit more gain for the baffle step correction. Thanks again! Gavin |

Hi rhapsodee,
Yes, input sensitivity is normally quoted based on full power output and, if stated as a voltage, is normally V or mV (rms). You should have an interesting setup when completed, though you would need to manually track the L-R balance adjustment across your two amplifiers, if required. Regards, Steve |

Hi Steve,
Yes, interesting, hopefully in a good way! What do you mean by tracking the L-R balance between the two amps? I have a rough plan for my passive XO, some details here.. 8" NHT woofers for midbass Appreciate any further comments! Gavin |
