Face up, that would be : E-B-C
If they are from/in the equipment, the marking can be on the board. In any event, do the junctions diode check - all these databooks can be misleading.

Thanx !!

Then is the layout printed allright in the service manual, but not correct on the pcb. I will take my precautions and checke everything.

I saw on that site that it was package TO-202var, so then put that into Google and found another device with that pinout and a datasheet for it.

Too bad. I wouldn't be surprised, if you will end up with this pinout: B-C-E.
Collector voltage drop will be less then that of the Emitter junction. And you can follow the traces on the board.
For replacement look for the same grades: Sony grades their parts by digits.

I have discovered the confusing/mix up. The Sony amplifier i am working on is perfectly symmetric built, and so these transistors are mounted, one channel with back and other with frontside to heatsink mounted.

tubee,
if sill in doubt, the pinout is E-B-C, C to cooling fin. I`m not aware of any deviations for this package.
