Suppose I had an amplifier circuit that was designed for use with a volume control in the 22-47kohm range, but all I had was a 10kohm pot.
What would happen if I used that 10kohm pot with that circuit? Thanks! |

If the circuit was designed *to be driven by* the pot, no problem. If the circuit was designed *to drive* the pot, it may be loaded too much. jd

Where is the pot placed in the circuit ?
Even with a high level line signal, e.g. 4V, the load using a 10K pot isn't much (0.4mA + the load of the following circuit).
