Test for blown body-diode in mosfet?

Hi all,

due to a half-blown bridge I was forced to think about what happens to a mosfet that gets his polarity reversed (so negative VDS for N-channel part and vice versa, gate is clamped to +-8VGS).

So there is this internal body diode that is not spec'd for the Toshiba 2SK1530 power mosfet.

How can I see wether this diode is shot?

Or asked differently, is a power mosfet usually completely shot when its body diode is fried?

PS: I was lucky, the other half of the bridge was ok, so all my mosfets got was a sagging rail (sort of half wave rectification).

The body diode is part of the structure.

You cannot have a blown body diode without a blown mosfet.

From what I've read it's a contact to one of the layers, so I thought it was possible.
