I have listed the "Totem Pole" - and the "Cross Shunt Push Pull" (Circlotron) versions so as articles with comparsion between different kinds and SEPP versions from Hiraga and MJ magazine (basicly not right for the list, because there are true complementary designs, but cause the "Single Ended" sound and distortion character I have make an exception. Nevertheless, I don't prefer complementary outpot stages, because I think the effort for the selection of the transistors is too high).
I hope, for some members this list offer a good overview. It is very hard to find such overview on other places in the web, because the most designs of amplifiers - as mentioned earlier - based of complementary transistor pairs. If not, I have to do in most cases with tube (valve) output power stages. Perhaps some members know about additional interesting URLs in this case (both schematics and commercial products). Please excuse my not perfect english - I work with the language tools by google. Hi,
That's a heck of a lot of good links and info there. Thanks for collecting and posting it all. |

now there are some new topologies from the last weeks:
1) Circlomos from Elvee It's cheap, it's N, it's dirty, it's.... The CIRCLOMOS!!! 2) Super-Pair Buffer from Linuxguru Low-distortion Super-pair Buffer simulation schematics 3) Kenpeter's follower - three in one (very special) go to post #47 about four transistor emitter follower (diamond buffer) as power output stage? Number 2 and 3 I haven't investigate, but it looks very interesting. If the author have found a method for reliability stabilizing of the idle current through the output for number 1, we have a very fine power amp topology. |

the tested tubes where EF180 and 12AU7 with big N channel mosfets.
this amp works great but needs a servo or two... |
