Default Supply Capacitors

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone knew what brand of supply capacitors Sim Audio and Mark Levinson use in their amplifiers? They are large blue capacitors. I "think" the ML's are Panasonics, but I cannot seem to find anyone with them forsale.

As far as I know, blue cans in ML have been Philips/Vishay, but was it Moon who used Nichicon?

The important factor in getting these capacitors is they are computer grade caps (some of these have double the ripple current rating of general purpose caps with same capacitance and are faster.)

Lots of cap manufacturers make them including philips/BC components - pretty sure your right about the brand btw.

Remember most ML power amps (OK maybe only there top end stuff) have the output stage regulated.

Cheers

Kevin

ML blue caps are made by United Chemicon - 105C screw terminal (U32D) type, made in Illinois or at least used to be.

Don't know who ML got theirs from but most Mallory's, United Chemicon 105C and 85C
types were all large computer grade 'lytics. Yes I've also seen the Phillips, got some
18,000uF I think around 75V or 90-100V Phillips.
Nothing anywhere on the jacket when you remove them?

Many were custom specified UCC parts, standard items were bought through e.g. tt. There were Philips parts used at one point but the specific parts had reliability problems.
