You should placed this thread under "Want to buy"

BTW: I'm sure people have samples (gotten for free) lying around.

OPA 227, OPA2227, OPA327
and whatever the variants are called dual or single op
they are very good and useful for hifi audio
I have recommended these, in this forum,
and one other member Nordic from south-africa
have used them and like them very much
Also we have other members recommending these
One search will confirm this!

good choice!
good luck to find some!

Does it have to be OPA2227? It is a superb op-amp, but also very expensive when you're a student. You could try something like OPA2134, which is also excellent but half the price.

OPA2134 is very useful.
If you want to try something else OPA2xxx7 is a good erecommend, as I said.
Especially for microphone and other low level spplications,
but very good opamps for most anything in audio.

Do not know about price, compared to OPA2134 ... because this one JFET input op is a lot Bang for Buck, really

The reason I was looking for this one rather than the 2134 is that I will be powering large speakers and I have heard these opamps being described as a little bass bloated. I guess I'll have to fork out if on one replies soon.

Don't listen to people who say that; for most circuits there is no significant difference between the two. I think the only place where the OPA2227 is really worth the extra is for low-noise applications.
