Question Nad 304 Protection Mode

Just picked up a NAD 304 and connected to B&W DM601 series 2 speakers (bi-wired). Sounds great until I turn up the volume. With the volume control at about 10 o clock the red light comes on and sound goes off. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I have a compatibility issue with the speakers? I believe these are rated at 4ohms.

Hope someone can help.

The 304 is a bit of an oddball... it looks like a Class G amp to me!

This could be a protection circuit fault but it could also indicate something's wrong with the power switching circuitry. Without testing it's impossible to know which.

Hi

B&W 601 S2 are 8 ohm speakers. Even though, that cannot be problem with this issue. I had same problem few years before with one 304 and I think was problem to put new power supply caps, the big ones. U can check does amp has any bad solder joints and idle voltage with service manual.

Nice amp, 35Watts per channel.
