Default Phase-splitter using ONLY NPN transistors - any ideas?

I have a cunning plan up my sleeve...

It comes down to constructing a Circlotron-type amp using 3055 transistors in the output stage.

NPN ONLY devices to be used as to trying to keep it similar to the style of a triode tube amp.

So for this I need ideas on a basic phase-splitter using NPN trannies.

This in turn will feed two identical NPN driver stages that drives the two 3055 t-sistors in the balanced bridge.

Odd idea I know but for the sake of being different I want to try it.

I know how to make a tube phase-splitter but with transistors I am hopeless..?

TIA.

Hi,
does your valve amp have a centre tapped transformer that supplies power to the two sides of the push pull stage?

That might be the clue you need.

Huh? Sorry for my impoliteness...

No valve amp mentioned in my post (this one)...

Here you are, 1 NPN trans. phase splitter. If you have to load it with less than 100k use buffer or you'll have different signal levels on + and - outputs.

Wow... really so simple? I had a vague idea that is might be something like this. Thank you kind sir.

I will be using different transistors and will try and expand this basic circuit to be sufficient for my needs.

Uhm... yes but I said "I know how to make a tube phase-splitter". I wont be using tubes in this project...

You can use the concept of "virtual complement" created by Bengt Olsson. It is basically the transistor splitter of above, but properly formalized in order to show the interchangeability with physical complements. See Electronics World, december 1994.

Here is a thread about the same subject; Olsson's ideas were about MOSFETs, but they can readily be adapted to bipolars (I did it).
Push-Pull using only N-Channel MOSFETs
