Default IntregalOverloadOutput on a G R Sloane Amp

Hello,
A few years ago I purchased from DIYAMP.net a totem pole amp. It is a GRSlone design. On this board is a terminal block point called a Intergal Overload Output. What am I supposed to hook it up too? It is driving me crazy. I looked through the books, searched, queryed and no answer or response.

Can anyone help? Does this go to a ground of some kind. Here is a snapshot of the schematic section showing how it ties into the amp board then runs off to a ground symbol.

What is that something??

It looks like a protection circuit (hense the name "overload output").
Even that some parts of the schematic is missing, my guess would be that Q13 detects overload and pulls Q23 On, which gives a positive output on the IOL terminal. This may have connection to an external protection circuit........

My guess is that it connects to an LED which lights up when the VI limiting kicks in; just a guess.

Hi!

I have talked to Randy Slone about the IOP output.

Material on a Bluray or DVD can cause high level transients to overload the amplifier. Accumulated activations (2-3 /sec is normal and false) eg. 100 times / sec is abnormal and the IOP circuit will short the drive signal.

You must connect the IOP output terminal to the Fig. 8.5 AUX-board ('The Audiophiles project source book'). Solder it to the point between Rin and BR1. The IOP circuit will drop-on the muting relay to disconnect the speakers.

I am finishing my totem pole amplifier, working now with the cabinet. I have not testet the IOP circuit yet. I hope it will work out fine!

Could you please PM me Randy's contact mail id etc., I want to contact him on a more personal note, to continue from where we left off last time. By the way it has nothing to do with audio. Thanks.

1965GTO - Have you tried connecting the IOP terminal to the AUX-board?
