I can have if it is any use, a 1000VA toroid with 115/230V Primaries and twin 45V secondaries from 230V.

Could I use this big lump as the basis for an offboard power supply to feed my gainclones, CDP and dac?
Or am I better off with independant transformers.

If I can use it, what would be the most acceptable way of dropping the voltage to the 5V, 12V, 25V etc I would want?
All the regulators I have seen have a max Vin of 40V.

Any other suggestions for this 10Kg doorstop?
