Default silicone chip 20w class a bridged

hi all
i,m thinking about building the above amp and would like to kinow if its possible to bridge it to make 40w per side by using 4x module kits
i also need it to be balanced and from what i understand (bugger all) it would be easy to set it up for balanced input if i do it this way
is this possible or am i just dreaming (as usual)
regards sheafer

I doubt that anybody would have attempted that. How do you propose to get rid of >200W of heat ?

hi all
ill get rid of the heat via big heatsinks
i have 4x conrad 350mm x 150mm so thats not an issue
as for global warming im not concerned ,i care about sound quality and if i have to burn 1000w of heat to get it then so be it .
i dont buy into the whole global warming thing anyway i think its just a natural cycle of the earth .

I agree with your comments about sound quality, as I have a SC15W/Ch.
However, I wonder how many members realise just how much quality sound you can get out of even a 15W/Ch Class A ?
Certainly much more than many people can comfortably use in a domestic situation, without the neighbours, or "she who must be obeyed " complaining.

hi sandy k
they will be used for driving some manger transducers in an active setup so i suppose 20w will proberbly be enough ,im just going overboard as usual
how do you find the sc 15w,ive read some good reports but i really need the balanced inputs as the whole system is ran threough a dbx 260 and i thought that using 4x modules bridged would also make it easy to configure it for ballanced inputs as well
i may be way off as usual with this assumtion though

A tweaked SC 15W can easily outperform a standard SC 20W.
Manger drivers can sound very good indeed, although the ones I heard were in an open baffle as a temporary measure. I think it may have been the Class A that was pressed into service on this occasion, with quite good results for a temporary speaker lash up.
According to SC, even the SC15W is capable of 25-30W into 4ohms, but only in Class A up to 7.5W into 4 ohms.

does this mean that the sc20 or 15 is not pure class a but a class a/b that switches after say 7 watts
hi luke
a worked slr5000 torana , a pure class a amp (nelson pass or other) and a cold can of carlton draught = heaven on earth unless your a greenie then its a toyota prios and lentiles
