How to remove knicks on Krell Heatsinks/chassis

Just aquired a nice Krell KSA300 Chassis and it has quite a bit of scratches and knicks in the (purplish) anodised heatsinks, top/bottom and faceplates....

Anyone know how to clearn them up? Sand/buff them out?

The only way to fill a nick in aluminum that I'm aware of is to weld a small bead to the affected area and then grind and polish it smooth. The anodizing must be removed for weld to adhere. The heat sinks were originally black and turn purple over time caused by high heat. One option is to polish the scratched areas and polish out the nicks to remove any high spots or ridges, and then re-anodize. They will not be the same as "factory new", but they will look a lot better.

I don't know if the purple color was due to heat, as you can see in the attached pic, it was a purple hue to the entire chassis.

This thing is a monster. Weighs about 65 pounds empty...

Maybe I will buff and sandblast her...

BTW - the pic is not mine...looks same with no "guts"

Or surface grind them, then a rebrush.
Only issue with aluminum is that it requires a grinding wheel that doesn't clogg, easiest pick would be an engine head uphaul shop.
